What is the CRC Robotics Competition?

Founded in 2001, CRC Robotics Competition aims to foster students’ passion for STEM through a competition in which students from various schools come together to create a robot for a game, create a website, compete in a programming competition, create a video, and present/pitch their project. Invicta 2021 will take place on April 15 to 17.

How Does the Game Work?

The robot must autonomously move around a 96 inch X 96 inch playing field to complete a given task: build a structure out of wooden blocks of differing shapes and sizes found in designated areas of the playing field. The robot begins in a starting zone in the middle of the field, and once the instructions have been sent, must pick up blocks from four areas of the field and bring them to a construction zone where assembly of a structure occurs. The entire process must be completed in under 5 minutes, and if the structure is completed under the 5 minute mark, the robot may pick up a ball and place it in a hoop to end the timer and get a point bonus. The structures vary in complexity with the more elaborate plans rewarding more points.

Who is behind Champlain Robotics?

We are a group of motivated students from Champlain College St-Lambert with many skills to bring to the CRC Robotics Competition. We started from humble beginnings, and although the current global situation hasn't helped our growth, we're extremely proud of what we were nevertheless able to create together as a team. We are always on the lookout for creative, curious and fun new members to participate in all disciplines of the robotics competition, namely:

  • Robot construction;
  • Robot programming;
  • Kiosk design;
  • Website development;
  • Video directing.

Some people call me bob because why not, nah truthfully I don't know how to pronounce my own name. And don't expect me to make sense when explaining stuff cause I don't know the names of anything.

Programming team

I was a part of CRHS's robotics team, there I worked on the robot and the programming competition, which is honestly my favourite part.

One thing about me is you will rarely see me not wearing a cap unless told not to. Also I am very organized person until you see my codes.

Being able to learn and contribute in such a dynamic environment, even without being in person, was so much fun. Can't wait until next year!

Student Experience

Due to the pandemic, this year was harder than most years. We had to pass the robot between each other in order to all play a role in building it, the kiosk became virtual, and well, the website stayed simple as per usual. We are happy to have cooperative, who never refuse to help one another. Teamwork is one of the best qualities our club has. We are all eager to learn and get to know each other. We helped each other get through the tough online experience and created a family.

To Conclude our Journey

We faced many adversities throughout our journey. In spite of this, we achieved and learned tremendously, thanks to our brillant team of students!
